The NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Center (NETSCC) will become, in early 2022, one of the founding members of a new School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation (formerly Wessex Institute) at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. . NETSCC will be the largest externally funded contract held within the new school and is located in the University of Southampton Science Park, Chilworth.
This replacement public health medicine consultant position is a senior position with a high level of responsibility, the incumbent will be part of the senior management group of NETSCC. The expected responsibilities of this position fall largely within the NIHR research programs managed by NETSCC. NIHR research programs managed by NETSCC may include research in any aspect of all specialties of clinical medicine and the incumbent should be medically qualified to ensure that he has the necessary medical training and the ability to understand the technical elements of medicine in all of these specialties.
The position will provide leadership in medical medicine and public health for the identification, prioritization and funding of important research questions, in the areas of health, public health and social services, as well as support for monitoring the completion of commissioned research until its publication in the NIHR. Journal library. This is a technically difficult role which will require the incumbent to draw on a diverse range of medical knowledge and skills on a daily basis.
Tasks in other parts of NETSCC may be required in the future, as agreed during the task planning process with the successful candidate and based on their interests and skills. There will also be additional opportunities to contribute to inter-NIHR initiatives.
We are seeking a Public Health Medicine Consultant or Medically Qualified Public Health Trainee who is at the appropriate stage of their training to be eligible to apply, with the necessary knowledge, skills and expertise in Medical Medicine and Health public that can support these NIHR research programs. Applicants should be highly motivated and strongly committed to public health principles, which can be flexible and adaptable, who can work in a team and are also able to work effectively on their own initiative.
The successful candidate will work intensively with partners and key stakeholders inside and outside the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to NIHR strategy and NIHR research programs.
