Pre-workout supplements are growing in popularity
LEE COUNTY, Fla .– Pre-workout supplements are growing in popularity – It’s not just popularity that is trending on the rise, sales are also skyrocketing.
According to fitness experts, the substantial influx was caused by accessibility and the number of options.
“Everything, you know, from the workout powder they buy at a Total Nutrition or GNC store to the pre-workouts we sell at Crunch Fitness,” said Crunch Fitness Cape Coral assistant general manager Jonathan Wiernik.
If you walk into any nutrition store or visit your gym’s nutrition bar, you’ll likely find a great selection of pre-workout powders and cans.
“People are looking for that little extra edge, a little extra energy, maybe a long day… looking to get a little more strength out of their workout,” said Rich Kline, CrossFit and Bootcamp Director at Around The Clock Fitness .
But just because there is a large selection does not mean you have to choose at random.
“You definitely want to do your research to see what you’re going to take first,” Wiernik said.
If you choose to ignore the label, you could miss some ingredients. Plus, the caffeine levels could be dangerous.
“There are pre-workouts that you know of that contain over 300 mg of caffeine. If you don’t take caffeine regularly, you should be a little careful or take half a spoon to start, ”Wiernik explained.
With so many pre-workout options available, it’s also important to remember that trainers and fitness experts can help point you in the right direction.
“I think figuring out what’s best for you will ultimately be the best choice and getting an unbiased opinion from a fitness professional who understands all of your health concerns, all of your goals, your age,” Kline said. .
With the right guidance, your fitness goals can become easier to achieve.
“I think it’s always best to identify what your needs are, what your goals are and then sit down with a certified professional, you know, who should help you make the best choice for you,” said Kline.
