Oldways’ Kelly LeBlanc Joins the Seafood Nutrition Partnership’s Nutrition Scientific Advisory Board

The Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) is pleased to announce that Kelly LeBlanc, MLA, RD, LDN, Director of Nutrition at Oldways Preservation Trust, has joined its Scientific Advisory Board on Nutrition. The 16-member Scientific Council, formed in 2013, is made up of the world’s leading researchers united passionately around seafood, which is essential to the health of all Americans. LeBlanc’s work focuses on cultural food programs, particularly African heritage and Mediterranean diets.

“I am honored to join the Seafood Nutrition Partnership Scientific Nutrition

Advisory Board and to serve alongside top researchers in the industry,” said LeBlanc. “As a dietitian, I have always considered science to be the backbone of my nutrition advice, and I am passionate about my work focusing on research and awareness around traditional diets rich in taste, nutrition, in durability and joy.”

LeBlanc (formerly Toups) has authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals on traditional diets, central to her work at Oldways, where she is responsible for the design, direction and oversight of multiple organization’s nutrition-related programs, including but not limited to: Mediterranean Heritage, African Heritage, Latin American Heritage, Asian Heritage and Whole Grains Council. A dietitian by training, she graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, where she spent a summer studying the Mediterranean diet in Sicily, and completed her dietetics internship under the University’s Coordinated Program. from Texas. LeBlanc also holds a master’s degree in gastronomy from Boston University, with a concentration in food policy.

“We are thrilled to have Kelly join the Scientific Council,” said SNP SNAC Chair Dr. Tom Brenna. “Kelly brings a wealth of experience and thought leadership on cultural eating habits and her research strengthens our reach to encourage even more Americans to eat seafood for better health.”
