Revised Schedule of Subsidies and Supplements for Elderly Care
The Schedule of Elderly Care Subsidies and Supplements applicable from 1 October 2022 has been revised concerning the amount of the Fixed component (Base Care Tariff or BCT) for services whose financing is calculated according to operational places (per day ). The notional financing of the BCT per operational place for these services is now expressed in the form of an amount to three decimal places.
BCT information for these services can be found in the updated calendar.
Suppliers can email questions about BCTs to ACFR [at] health.gov.au.
Important change to the rules for residents supported at 40%
The 40% supported resident rules that apply to the maximum amount of Housing Supplement and Concessional Resident Supplement payable for eligible permanent residents have been simplified from 1 October 2022.
The assessment of the proportion of care provided to residents in care will be done on a monthly rather than daily basis, and the requirement is 40% or more residents in care (instead of more than 40%).
To this end, accompanied residents are residents eligible either for the preferential resident supplement or for the housing supplement.
For more information, see the department’s Residential Supplement for Seniors and Resident Supplement for Seniors web pages.
